Student Resources

Welcome to Grade 5

This year the students will be expected to become proficient in long division and multiplication with three digits. We will also spend a great deal of time becoming familiar with all aspects of fractions and the use of decimals in whole number operations.

Social studies will see us moving through world geography and study the continents of Europe and Asia.

In reading we will use various types of materials. We will read stories from the text, and this will be supplemented by reading 2 - 3 novels. We will begin by reading Elizabeth Speare's novel Sign of the Beaver in conjunction with the social studies unit on Native Americans. Later in the year we will read Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.
